Absolutely not! WAI-CRC welcomes anyone who is passionate about aviation — whether you're a seasoned airline pilot, a student just starting lessons, an aerospace engineer, an aviation enthusiast, or simply someone who loves to watch planes fly. There is a place for everyone in our community.
Membership involves two parts: WAI International membership (starting at $40/year for students, $65/year standard) plus local chapter dues of $15/year. You pay the local dues when you first join the chapter and then annually each year.
Monthly chapter meetings are typically held on the second Saturday of each month at 6:30 PM in the Northern Virginia area. Specific locations are announced to members via email. Meetings are a mix of in-person and virtual depending on the month.

We have opportunities ranging from helping at Girls in Aviation Day, to social media management, event planning, mentorship, and chapter leadership roles. All volunteers are welcome — you don't need to be a current member to volunteer at most events.
Girls in Aviation Day is an annual global event organized by WAI chapters worldwide. It is designed to inspire girls ages 8–17 to explore careers in aviation and aerospace. Activities include flight simulator experiences, cockpit tours, demos by women in aviation careers, STEM activities, and more. Learn more and donate here.
